I Was Lucky Enough To Get A New Day
Today is a new day. Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and those who decided a kick in the ass was an effective technique too.
This morning I met some friends to run the race route. What a perfect way to get back on track. I run 3:1’s, meaning I run for 3 minutes and walk for one minute. Sometimes the 3 minutes are sloppy and dreadful but today I felt great. I felt faster and light on my feet. I was able to keep up with Kim M the whole time. Well, I’m sure she slowed it down for me and I am grateful, but I didn’t feel like I needed to ask her to stop as I sometimes, ok often, do. I actually had the best, unofficial, time for a 5K ever. Barbara brought her daughter Emily and it felt like more than meeting a friend or two to run with. It felt to me like a running group. Thank you ladies for pushing me along.
Live Like You’re Dyin…Cont’d
As some of you remember, when Barbara and I were in Houston for the first chemo treatment we decided to “Live Like We Were Dyin”, Tim McGraw style, and find a mechanical bull to ride. To no avail. Apparently, Wednesdays aren’t big bull riding nights in Houston. The bulls start moving on Thursdays.
Last night at the Stetson Sawyer Brown concert there was a mechanical bull! I can say that I have now checked that off my bucket list, however I would do it again!
I had a few errands in town after the run this morning and when Kim W and I were shopping at DeLand Natural Market she commented that she is enjoying hanging out when we “Live Like We Are Dyin”. It’s a great way to live, try it. Now having said that, let me be clear, I don’t think I’m dying. I actually am still hoping for 6 chemo treatments and done, then on to a long happy life. How do you look at life? Be mindful of how you react to things. It’s worth pausing and considering situations from a “live like you were dyin” viewpoint. I’m quite sure you will see situations more clearly. I have a feeling that sky diving is next on the list. I can’t wait!
