Exercise And My Victory Run

Running or Gym?

Exercise is very important to me so my plan was to run with my 5 am group this morning, however, it’s been raining since Friday and there were predictions for early showers today too so I decided to go to the gym. Once the morning got going I decided it’s dry enough and would rather run. I haven’t run in almost 2 weeks so this was big. I was a little nervous about how I would feel and of course, if could I do it.

My initial plan was to run a 1.5 to 2-mile route. So I changed from my shirt that is good for the gym to the running tank I like to wear for running. I don’t like to run with anything on my shoulders, useless fact about me. I don’t know that I ever knew that but a few years back I ran a 5K with a friend, Jennifer and she said that.  It made perfect sense to me.

Run It Is

Anyway, I  turned out of the driveway and turned right. I usually walk about two houses before I get going. Today, one house and couldn’t hold it in any longer. I actually put my arms up and cheered when I started running. So to any of my neighbors who potentially saw me, yes, I was just starting. I had not just finished like it would have appeared. I had a decision to make when I got to the front of the neighborhood. Turning right would be 1.5 miles, left would be 2-3. After the mailboxes my body started to go left, I didn’t have to decide. Another victory cheer. For those of you who know my running, I am SLOW but in my mind, I think I was floating on air.

After a half-mile, I had a wardrobe malfunction – broken ponytail holder! That was probably the only thing that could have potentially made me stop. I come from a long line of MacGuyvers (I’m not sure I’m spelling that correctly, but you know who I mean) so I tied it together – very unlike MacGuyver but I was still moving. Another decision point, right and it’s a 2-mile loop, straight and we’re doing 3 today. My body went straight! After about 2.5 miles I was tired, but who wouldn’t be? So I walked the last 1/3 of a mile or so.

Exercise Has So Much To Do With My Energy Level

I have to say my energy level today is GREAT.  I’m not feeling like a nap or caffeine boost. I think the run, and exercise in general, has so much to do with it. Get moving everyone!!
