I’m awake early as usual. I’m not nervous about today. Getting here yesterday was probably the best thing for me. I had my blood drawn and went to a few shops in the hospital. Then we went to Rice Village for dinner and a little more shopping. I was ready for bed around 6:30 (Houston is central time). This morning I will do a little computer work, shower and then walk over to see my friend Cotton, at Krogers/Starbucks. I see the Dr at 8:30 and chemo starts at 11:00. It will be a long day. Probably not back to the hotel until 8:30. Yesterday Sean and I saw Ashima, the PA from head and neck who originally helped me. She was so so sweet. We chatted for a while and she wanted to know the updates about my treatment. She repeatedly said that the cancers are all so different but she felt that the fact my tumors have shrunk mid-chemo is very encouraging.
A couple of exciting updates about the race. First, we have 166 registered participants. We still have 2 months left! Please be sure to tell your friends to register and get moving. This week Coach O’Malley spoke to us about how to train for a 5K. She is going to email an 8 week program. I will post it or send it to everyone who is interested so there is still time to get going!
Secondly, my college friend, Maryellen, and her 4 sisters (the “sisters”) are organizing a route for the ME STRONG run in Massachusetts on the same day. If you live in New England and want to walk or run with a group on the very day and time of my race you can run or walk with them and their team. If you register I will send your numbers and shirt, etc. How exciting is that? I thought it was such a great idea!
Thank you all for your love, prayers and support. I am truly blessed.
